Birthday Parties

Please note that the Science Center's first availability for birthday party bookings is

currently September 7.

Theme Options:

• Reptile selection: Green Anole, Spiny Lizard, Fence Lizard, Corn Snake, Rat Snake, Box Turtle or Red-eared Slider

• Amphibian selection: Bullfrog or salamander animal exploration.

• Mammal selection: Opossum animal investigation.

• Fish selection: Bluegill animal observation. Fish printing. Dip netting for different types of fish in the pond.

• Bird selection:  Use bird specimens as the animal exploration. Take a nature walk with binoculars to look for different bird species.

• Insect selection:  Take a nature walk to collect and observe terrestrial insects. Use insects in the collections room for animal investigation. 

• Aquatic Adventures: Dip netting at the pond is substituted for a nature walk, collect water samples and use these as the animal investigation.

*Animal explorations are based on animal availability. Options will be discussed when birthday party is scheduled.  

General Information

Price:

 $200.00 for up to 10 children. $15 for each additional party child with a maximum of 20 total children.  A $50.00 non-refundable deposit must be paid at least a week in advance. 

Party Times

Select Saturdays by appointment only. Scheduled in 2-hour blocks.

Ages

Must be turning 3 or older

River Legacy Provides:

• A naturalist led live animal investigation
• Naturalist led nature hike  (a craft related to the theme will be provided if weather conditions are not suitable for a hike)
• Plates, napkins, cutlery, and cups supplied for serving cake (not provided).
• Goody bags
• Table covers (red and white gingham print)
  • (Note: Refrigerator/freezer available. Coolers not provided.)

Party Host (Parent) Responsible For:

• Cake, ice cream and all refreshments (only light colored liquids)
• Additional plates and supplies for food other than cake and ice cream
• Cleaning up food and party favors before leaving
• Party decorations (NO Latex Balloons Allowed)

Party Schedule (2hrs)

• Arrive 15 minutes before party to set up room and decorations
• 30-45 minutes for a naturalist led animal investigation
• 45 minutes for celebration and refreshments
• 30 minutes for a nature walk (allows for a parent to stay behind and clean up during walk)
