Family Hike with a Naturalist
Bundle up and join us for a free guided family hike at River Legacy Nature Center on March 21, led by our expert naturalists. This is a relaxed, exploratory hike focused on discovering the signs of spring popping up along the trails—perfect for curious kids and families.
Early spring is an exciting time to be outside. As we hike, naturalists may point out things like:
-
Budding trees, emerging leaves, and early spring wildflowers
-
Insects becoming active again and what they mean for the ecosystem
-
Bird activity, including nesting behaviors and spring songs
-
Animal signs showing how wildlife transitions from winter to spring
-
How warmer weather and longer days spark new growth throughout the forest
This is a family-friendly hike for ages 5 and up, and the experience will be adjusted based on who attends:
-
Families will explore a shorter, kid-friendly trail with plenty of time for questions and observation
-
Older children and adults ready for deeper exploration may venture farther along the trail
-
The hike may be modified depending on group makeup and spring trail conditions
