Free Hike with a Naturalist

Join us for a free guided family hike at River Legacy Nature Center on March 21, led by our expert naturalists. This is a relaxed, exploratory hike focused on discovering the signs of spring popping up along the trails—perfect for curious kids and families.

Early spring is an exciting time to be outside. As we hike, naturalists may point out things like:

  • Budding trees, emerging leaves, and early spring wildflowers

  • Insects becoming active again and what they mean for the ecosystem

  • Bird activity, including nesting behaviors and spring songs

  • Animal signs showing how wildlife transitions from winter to spring

  • How warmer weather and longer days spark new growth throughout the forest

Details to Know:

What to Bring:

  • Your curiosity and questions for the naturalists

  • Dress for the weather (layers recommended—spring can surprise us!)

  • Closed-toe shoes

  • Water bottle

  • Binoculars (optional, but fun for spotting birds and wildlife)

Spring weather can be unpredictable, and the hike may be adjusted accordingly—but that’s part of the adventure. Whether you’re bringing curious kids or simply want to enjoy a guided walk during one of the most lively seasons of the year, this hike is a wonderful way to welcome spring at River Legacy.
