Smokey

Texas Rat Snake
Smokey joined River Legacy Nature Center in 2017. Initially shy and anxious, Smokey has since become one of our most beloved animal ambassadors. At over six feet long, this Western Rat Snake captivates visitors with his calm presence in the Atrium exhibit. Though once misunderstood, Smokey is now a friendly reminder of how every animal can thrive with the right care. He plays an essential role in educating children and guests about native wildlife. By sponsoring Smokey, you provide his care and share his story with countless visitors.
