Mammal Monday – March 17th, 11am & 1:30pm

Meet some of our furry friends up close and learn about Texas mammals—both the ones you see today and those from the past. From opossums, North America’s only marsupial, to ferrets that nearly went extinct in North America, you’ll discover what makes these creatures so fascinating and resilient.

Turtle Tuesday – March 18th 11am & 1:30pm

It’s all about turtles, one of Earth’s most successful survivors! Whether they’re swimming in rivers or wandering in the woods, turtles have adapted to nearly every environment. Learn how they live, how long they can survive, and whether or not a turtle can really come out of its shell.

Watery Wednesday – March 19th 11am & 1:30pm

Take a deep dive into the watery world of our pond! Explore the tiny aquatic animals that live there, like baby dragonflies and diving beetles. These macroinvertebrates are sensitive to environmental change and can tell us a lot about water quality. Bring your curiosity and a keen eye for this watery adventure!

Radical Reptiles – March 20th 11am & 1:30pm

Snakes and lizards take center stage! Discover the differences between these two types of reptiles and meet some of the native species you can find in your own backyard. Have a burning question about snakes or lizards? Our naturalists will be ready to share their expertise!

Creepy Crawlies – March 21st 11am & 1:30pm

Get up close and personal with some of the coolest (and creepiest) bugs around—walking sticks, hissing cockroaches, and tarantulas! Learn about their incredible “superpowers” and how they help keep ecosystems healthy. You’ll never look at bugs the same way again!

Whether you want to meet a friendly mammal, search for turtles, or discover what’s lurking in the pond, there’s something for everyone during Spring Break at River Legacy. Come for one day or join us for all five—it’s going to be a wild week of discovery and fun!

Don’t miss out—see you this Spring Break at River Legacy Nature Center!
