River Legacy Nature Center is honored to be included in the City of Arlington’s proposed 2025 bond package—a citywide initiative totaling $200.8 million aimed at enhancing essential public infrastructure and services. Among the five propositions on the ballot, Proposition C allocates $9.3 million for Parks & Recreation, with a portion designated for much-needed improvements at River Legacy.

If approved, the proposed bond funding would enable comprehensive updates to our facility, ensuring the Nature Center continues to provide a safe, welcoming, and educational environment for guests of all ages. Specific upgrades planned include:

• Foundation and structural beam repairs
• Exterior siding and door replacements
• Rehabilitation of exterior animal storage areas
• Replacement of the west window wall and roof covering
• Upgrades to skylights, water heaters, and air handling units
• Modernization of fluorescent lighting
• Fire alarm and emergency exit lighting replacements

These updates not only ensure the structural integrity of the Nature Center but also reflect our ongoing commitment to sustainability, safety, and community accessibility. Maintaining the quality of our facilities is essential to supporting our mission of environmental education and conservation for current and future generations.

The proposed improvements are part of a larger vision that includes enhancements across Arlington’s streets, public safety systems, libraries, and other public buildings. Each proposition represents a step toward creating a stronger, more resilient city.

Voting Information

Residents will have the opportunity to vote on the bond propositions during the following dates:

• Early Voting: April 22–29, 2025
• Election Day: May 3, 2025
