Explore the Outdoors Like Never Before with the New River Legacy Discovery Trail App!
ARLINGTON, Texas – River Legacy Foundation receives a grant of $57,000 from Women Inspiring Philanthropy to support the release of their new Discovery Trail App. This app is designed to help guide you along the Discovery Trail located in the woods near the Nature Center. With it, you’ll discover many hidden items and learn about the unique native plants and wildlife in River Legacy Park. From identifying native wildflowers and learning how they attract pollinators to examining the components of a decaying log and its inhabitants, this app will immerse the user in a journey of sights and sounds.
“River Legacy makes STEAM education accessible to all community members, a mission that strongly aligns with our mission to transform lives in the Arlington area,” says Linda Dipert, a founding member of Women Inspiring Philanthropy. “Our contribution to this initiative is an investment in the quality of life in our community.”
Thanks to Women Inspiring Philanthropy, the project Funding Partner, River Legacy Foundation and the Nature Center can expose the wonders of nature to the community in a new way that merges hands-on, outdoor exploration and technology. When the app user finishes their outdoor adventure and completes the app, they can head inside the nature center to claim a prize.
“The Discovery Trail App is an innovative way to use technology to help people explore and appreciate the beauty of the outdoors,” explains Robert Blake of Bit by Bit Computer Consultants and River Legacy Board President. “When you gain a greater understanding of your environment, you are better equipped to protect it. Thank you to Women Inspiring Philanthropy for funding this vital project and helping families fall in love with nature.”
The app can be downloaded in the Apple App Store and is recommended for use on iPhones.
