On Sunday, March 30th, the River Legacy Nature Center was honored to host over 70 remarkable women and supporters for the Latina Philanthropy Brunch: Power of the Purse, part of the Empowered Women Power Economies (EWPE) initiative presented by the Hispanic Women’s Network of Texas (HWNT) Arlington Chapter.

The atmosphere buzzed with purpose and celebration as attendees gathered to uplift, connect, and invest in the future of Latina leadership. The event featured three powerhouse speakers—Maryanne Piña, Juana Veliz, and Regina Montoya—who each shared deeply personal stories of resilience, empowerment, and the transformational power of giving back.

One particularly moving moment came from Regina Montoya, who reflected on her journey to becoming one of the few Latina Executive Directors of a philanthropic foundation. Her story underscored the importance of representation, trailblazing, and creating pathways for the next generation of Latina leaders.

The event also highlighted HWNT Arlington’s ongoing mission to empower Latinas through education, career advancement, mentorship, and community support. Attendees generously contributed to the cause, raising additional funds on-site to continue this vital work in the community.
